NEWTON – Families looking to prepare for the upcoming school year while finding free household items will have two opportunities in one location on Saturday, Aug. 15, as UPCYCLE and the Back to School Bash take place at SACC, 404 S. Scott Ave., in Newton.
UPCYCLE, a free community rummage sale, will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. The event encourages neighbors to share gently used household items with others in the community at no cost. The goal of UPCYCLE is to help connect people, reduce waste, and give useful items a second life while supporting local families.
At the same location, the Back to School Bash will run from 9 to 11 a.m., offering a variety of free services and supplies to help students get ready for the new school year.

- Haircuts and hair checks
- Shoe gift cards
- Socks and underwear
- Newton Eagles spiritwear
- Scoliosis screenings
- DIY Laundry Day
Families planning to attend the Back to School Bash should note that registration opens July 24.
The combined events are designed to support local families by providing essential back-to-school resources while fostering community connections through the UPCYCLE giveaway.
