Despite having 12 of their students missing from the competition, which hurt the visual and sound scoring of their competition greatly, the Newton Marching Eagles were able to finish fifth out of 9 bands in their class and 8th overall out of 19 bands.

Jasper County Community Unit #1, Board of Education Meeting Report October 16, 2023 Superintendent’s Report: The district is aware of an incident that occured on a Jasper County School Bus last week.  Jasper County School Administrators will continue to look into the incident to improve bus safety throughout the district.  

The City of Newton’s Street Department will begin vacuuming leaves along the city streets on November 1, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.-3 p.m., until end of November or into first week of December if required for extended season. The leaves must be on the roadside of the ditch

Shop With A Cop applications are now available at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department. Please note we are at our new building located at 106 E Morgan. Applications will be due Monday November 13th by 3:00 PM.
