The Newton Eagles boys basketball team opened their play in the LIC tournament being held in Lawrenceville with a loss on Saturday against Casey-Westfield. The Eagles started out strong with a 17-5 lead in the first quarter, however by the end of the second quarter their lead was only increased

Brad Harris coached his way to his 200th career win with the Lady Eagles during the Merry Mule Christmas Tournament in Fairfield. The Lady Eagles placed second in the tournament and Camryn and Karasyn Martin were named for the All Tournament team. Merry Mule tournament at Fairfield Game 1 Friday

The Newton Lady Eagle fresh soph team defeated Altamont with a final score of 50-33. The Indians and Eagles were tied at the end of the first with a score of 11 each. The Eagles had the lead at the half with a score of 19 to the Indians 15.

The Eagles freshman team won 58-23 and the sophomore team won 26-21 *playing two halves. The lead scorer for the freshman was Quincy Fulton scoring 12. Mack Huber scored 11, Eli Wolf scored 9, Chance Mulvey scored 8, Maddox Horner scored 7, Ian Kessler and Wyatt Lingafelter scored 5 each,
