Marjorie Lucille McFarland age 88, of Newton passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Newton Care Center, Newton, Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2026, at
West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Tom Matson officiating. Interment will follow the services in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting with the arrangements.
Marjorie was born on December 20, 1937, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel C. and Genelle O’Dell (Hunt) Downey. On June 26, 1955, Marjorie married Larry G. McFarland. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2004.
Having retired from Hewlett Packard, Marjorie spent her career working in the computer technology industry. Marjorie was an animal lover. She adored her house pets and was especially fond of birds. She loved bird watching and learning about the birds she saw.
Marjorie is survived by her many cousins and dear friend, Nancy (David) Schuetter of Newton.
Her parents, Dan and Genelle Downey, husband Larry McFarland and brother, Gary R. Downey preceded her in death.
