Lesley Woods of rural Newton has been awarded the 2019 Jasper County Retired Teachers scholarship of $1,500. Although she graduated from Newton Community High School in 2018, Lesley is enrolled at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville as a junior for the fall of 2019 due to her numerous dual credit

Charlie Schackmann, chairman for the Newton Masonic Lodge Scholarship Program, presents certificates announcing that the Grand Lodge of Illinois has matched the Newton Lodge 216 scholarship donations to both Kaylie Houser and Elly Eaton. This program, IMCAP or Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program, works with the Masonic Lodges to support
