
Stanley’s Perfect Day Powers Newton Past Robinson, 9-2
The Newton Community High School Varsity Eagles delivered a commanding performance on Thursday, defeating the Robinson Varsity Maroons 9-2 behind an explosive third inning and a flawless day at the plate from Alisson Stanley.
Stanley went a perfect 3-for-3, sparking Newton’s offense early and often. The senior standout opened the scoring with a single in the first inning, then added a double in the third and another in the fourth, showcasing power and consistency from the leadoff spot.
The Eagles took control with a six-run third inning, breaking open a 1-0 game. The rally featured contributions from across the lineup:
- Audrie Reich grounded out to score one,
- Allie Hermann delivered an RBI single,
- Avery Mulvey doubled home two runs,
- Addyson O’Dell and Camryn Martin each plated a run with productive groundouts.
Pitcher Amelia Collins earned the win for Newton, holding Robinson scoreless through five efficient innings. Collins gave up just three hits, struck out three, and walked none to keep the Maroons off balance. Karly Deckard closed out the game in relief.
Newton racked up 11 hits in the win, with Mulvey and Reich driving in two runs apiece. Hermann, O’Dell, and Bailee Frichtl also contributed multiple hits. The Eagles added pressure on the basepaths, swiping 10 bases, including multiple steals by Hermann, Frichtl, Stanley, and Claire Probst.
Robinson’s lone highlight came in the sixth inning when Eva Herman launched a solo home run to left field after a 6-pitch battle at the plate. Herman went 2-for-3 and drove in one of the Maroons’ two runs. Brylee Yates added the other RBI for Robinson.
The win marks a strong all-around showing for Newton, who combined disciplined hitting, aggressive base running, and steady pitching to secure the victory.
