Wade Wickham Signs with Vincennes University Track and Field Team

Wade Wickham, son of Kevin and Erin Wickham, will be attending Vincennes University as a part of the track and field team participating in pole vault. During his time at NCHS, Landen has been an active participant in activities including: Track and field, Football, Golf, beta club, FFA, Math club.

What made you decide this school was the best fit for you?
The Ag program is great with very personal teachers and small classes. Their track program competes at a high level and I’m exited to join.

How do you feel NCHS has prepared you for this next step in life?
The teachers have taught me valuable lessons, aiding in my academic career as well as practical skills.

What are at least two life lessons you have learned from sports?

Discipline and determination. Battling injuries made me follow strict routines to get back to competing. Even when it was hard and I didn’t want to do it, I knew I had to follow the training set up by the trainer to be able to compete.

How have your coaches (and assistant coaches) helped prepare you to play at a collegiate level?

I have learned how to be self motivated and that the only one who will stop me from achieving my goals is me. I have also really connected with not only assistant coach Brock Tarr, but the trainer Kari Norhen. Both, along with Coach Todd Short have been a positive role model for me in teaching me how to focus and move forward despite any obstacle that comes my way.

What will you miss the most next year about not being at NCHS?

Being close to home and my family.
