When we emailed over questions about her grand opening and her floral shop, Debra Whitehurst answered them so eloquently, we chose to simply allow her to tell you about her new business, Dibbie Dabbles.
“I have always dreamed of starting my own flower shop. I feel my business will add to our community by being a place where each person is treated like family. I want them to feel like it’s their hometown flower shop. I believe small businesses are the heart and soul of a community. Jasper County has always been good to me and this is my way to give back. I will offer fresh and silk arrangements for all occasions. As i grow, I plan to add giftware, balloons and more. We will be glad to offer delivery services too. I will also design arrangements from silks our customers bring to me. I plan to offer wedding florals in the near future. Dibbie Dabbles will be a complete full service flower shop. I will always be open to suggestions to better serve you. Feel free to let me know what items you would like me to carry in the store. Our hours are 9-5 Monday-Friday, Sat 9-1. I can be reached by phone at 1-618-783-2565.
I was married to the late Neil Whitehurst who passed away in March of 2000. We were blessed with 3 wonderful children- Jessie,Eber, and Kylee. I have been a single working mom since that time. I started in the flower shop business working for my brother-in-law Dan Whitehurst at the Newton Flower Shop in the late 70’s. He was a great mentor and that’s when I fell in love with the business. I have also worked for Bruce Balding and most recently Diana Shryock at Buds n Blossoms. I am thankful for all these experiences and opportunities to continue to grow and learn. I could not have done this without the support of my family and friends. I would also like to thank Eric and Carrie Carr for the space to make my dreams come true. Make sure to stop in the Crooked Creek Antler Art showroom next door. We can’t wait to see you at Dibbie Dabbles. Remember, dreams do come true!”
