Marla Reynolds Retires from Jasper County Health Department

Marla Reynolds recently retired from the Jasper County Health Department after almost 29 years and took a few minutes out of her day to answer a few questions for us about her time at the Health Department and her future plans.

When did you start at the Health department and in what capacities have you worked in over the years?

I began working at JCHD on December 3, 1990 as a WIC Clerk. Other positions I have held
throughout the years are Secretary, Executive Assistant, and my current position as
Administrative Assistant where my duties include payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts
payable.

What are some of the changes you have seen over the years?

I have seen several changes throughout my time at JCHD, both to our building and to programs.
In 1990, the Jasper County Ambulance Department was located in the east end of our main
building. When they relocated the following year, that part of the building was renovated to
expand the offices of the Behavioral Health Division. A new addition was completed to the main
building in March, 1997, for the Public Health Division and in 2002 the former Farm Credit
Building was purchased and houses the Environmental Health Division.
Along with building changes, I have also seen an increase in services offered at JCHD, and the
State of Illinois has expanded programs as well. Computer programs, insurance billing and
electronic payments have evolved over the years.

What are some of the things you will miss the most?

What I will miss the most are the people, both those that I work with and the people we serve. I
have made lifelong friendships throughout the years that I will cherish.

Are there any moments that really stand out to you?

I have been fortunate to work at JCHD for 28 ½ years and have seen the good in people of our
County throughout that time. We live in a very giving community where people pull together in
times of need and I am blessed to call Jasper County my home.

What are your plans for after you retire?

In my retirement, I plan to spend more time with my family, traveling, sewing and crafting.

and can you tell me a little about yourself? Family? etc

My husband, Phil, works at Hershey in Robinson and we attend Central Christian Church. Our
son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Rachel, live in Effingham with our two grandbabies, Bryce, who
is 6 years old, and Brielle, who is 2 years old. Our daughter, Alison, and son-in-law, Will, live in
Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, which is in the Madison area. My parents, Duane and Karen Cisney, live in
Hidalgo where I grew up.
