Newton Varsity Eagles cruised to an easy victory over Robinson Varsity Maroons 9-2 on Thursday
Newton Varsity Eagles got things started in the second inning. Gus Bierman drove in one when Bierman singled.
Newton Varsity Eagles notched four runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from a single by Isaac Flowers and a double by Mason Schafer.
Schafer was credited with the victory for Newton Varsity Eagles. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
Taylor Maxwell took the loss for Robinson Varsity Maroons. Maxwell lasted six innings, allowing 12 hits and nine runs while striking out two.

It came down to the wire on Friday, with Newton Varsity Eagles taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single in the late innings that sealed their victory over Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine OPH Varsity. The game was tied at two with Newton Varsity Eagles batting in the bottom of the eighth when Mason Schafer singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
