The NCHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams will be playing in Christmas tournaments. The girls will be at Fairfield and the boys in Effingham.

The Newton Eagles defeated both Altamont and North Clay. The Eagles defeated Altamont with a final score of 56-46. The first quarter scores were 15-6 and at the half, the Eagles still had the lead 22-18. During the third quarter, the Eagles increased their lead by scoring 22 to 11.

The Newton Eagles defeated the Paris Tigers with a final score of 63-26. The Eagles had a strong lead at the end of the first quarter with a score of 20-13. At the end of the half, the Eagles were at 35 to the Tigers 19. In the third quarter

The Newton Lady Eagles went 2-1 in the Bob Kerans Tournament over Thanksgiving break. They won their first game against Flora. The second game versus Altamont was also a win for the Lady Eagles with a final score of 55-43. In a close game, the Eagles led at the end

St Thomas kindergarten, first, and second-grade classes performed their annual Thanksgiving program on the Friday before Thanksgiving break. Each class performed separately and then for the finale all three classes performed Hooray for Thanksgiving.
