The Newton Eagles Boys Track team placed third in State 1A competition at the State Finals in Charleston on Saturday, May 27th. The team scored 30 points and were just barely edged out by Shelbyville who scored 30,5 points. Catlin (Salt Fork) scored 45 points. 100 Meters 1A – Finals 6. 11

The Newton Lady Eagles ended their softball season in the regional championship game against Flora when rain caused the game to be concluded at five innings. The game was tied at one with Flora batting in the top of the fifth when Flora scored one run on a stolen base.

The Newton Lady Eagles girls’ track team placed fifth in the state in the 4×200 relay. Running in this relay were Laney Hemrich, Morgan Schafer, Makayla McVicar, and Sydney Kinder. The Lady Eagles relay team placed ninth and consisted of Makayla McVicar, Elley Bennett, Sydney Kinder, and Laney Hemrich.
