Jasper County 4-H Announces 2026 Show Schedule

As summer approaches, excitement is building across Jasper County as the 2026 4-H show season gets set to kick off. From public speaking to livestock competitions, this year’s schedule offers a full lineup of events that highlight the hard work, dedication, and talent of local youth.

All exhibits will be open for public viewing, giving community members a chance to support and celebrate the efforts of 4-H participants from across the region.

The season begins with the Jasper/Clay/Effingham/Fayette 4-H Public Speaking Contest on Monday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m., held at the Effingham County Extension Office. This event showcases the confidence and communication skills of 4-H members as they present prepared speeches.

Animal shows begin in June with the Jasper/Clay 4-H Cat & Dog Shows on Wednesday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ingraham Community Center.

All remaining events will take place at the Jasper County Fairgrounds, where a full slate of activities is scheduled:

The General Projects Show will be held Friday, June 19 from 4 to 6 p.m., featuring a wide variety of exhibits created by 4-H members.

Livestock events begin Saturday, June 20 with the 4-H Horse Show at 11:30 a.m. (or shortly following the FFA Section 20 Show). The Poultry Show follows on Sunday, June 21 at 2 p.m., with the Rabbit Show later that evening at 5 p.m.

Monday, June 22 begins with weigh-in at 8 a.m., followed by the Sheep Show at 4 p.m. and the Goat Show immediately after.

The schedule continues Tuesday, June 23 with a full day of livestock competitions, including the Swine Show at 8 a.m., Dairy Show at 2 p.m., and Beef Show at 5 p.m.

Open Livestock Shows will take place Wednesday, June 24 at 8 a.m., giving exhibitors additional opportunities to showcase their animals.

The week wraps up with the 4-H Master Showmanship Contest on Thursday, June 25 at 9 a.m., followed by the highly anticipated 4-H Auction at 3 p.m.

Each event represents months of preparation and dedication from local youth, and organizers encourage the public to attend, support participants, and experience one of the county’s most cherished traditions.
