NCHS White Christmas: Senior Cast Member Andrew Tarr

Andrew Tarr will portray Phil Davis in the NCHS Musical production of White Christmas on December 16-19th. Andrew is the son of Dr. Brett and Lori Tarr
What musicals have you been in at NCHS and what characters/roles did you play?
I was in the ensemble in Cinderella and portrayed Naphtali and the Butler in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
What was your favorite musical and why?
My favorite musical was Cinderella because it was my first musical and it was a whole new insight into the work that gets put into a show.
What scene in White Christmas is your favorite and why? (This does not have to be a scene you are in)
The “Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun” number with Betty (Lily), Judy (Elise) and Martha (Emma) because the song is so fun and catchy.
What are three things being in the musical have taught you? and how have you learned these?
Auditions have taught me to be prepared. Doing musical during COVID has taught me to expect the unexpected and be flexible. Being on stage has taught me to have stage presence and be more confident while speaking.
What are two pieces of advice you would give young people who want to start performing in musicals at NCHS?
Take it all in one you start because you will miss it when it’s gone. Everything you do, do it with confidence.
What qualities do you see exemplified in the adults who help put on this show that you will take with you as you leave NCHS and how do they demonstrate these qualities?
The adults that are involved in helping put on this show are hard working and dedicated because they go home and still work to get things done. They are leaders who offer advice and they are passionate about what they do.
What will you miss the most once the final curtain closes on your NCHS musical career?
The thing that I will miss the most is the rush of adrenaline that happens when the Overture plays and the show is about to start and seeing a full auditorium.
